Newborn Photo  |  Newborn Photographer  |  Grand Junction, CO

Have you been debating about if you should schedule a newborn photo session for when your baby is born? This is a common debate for expectant mothers. Is it worth your time and money to have a professional newborn photographer capture your child at this stage?

The answer is… absolutely! The newborn stage is so important to capture and here are a few reasons why:

The Newborn Stage Doesn’t Last Long

You spend 9 long months anxiously awaiting the day that you can see what your baby looks like. You dream about, you think about, you worry about. And then the day comes. You get to see and kiss that sweet little face that you have been waiting so long for. You feel like you will never forget what they look like when they are so small. But, ask any parent of older children and they will let you know it happens, and sooner than you think. While their look is changing from newborn to an older infant you don’t even notice the change because you are with them each day. Having a newborn photo session during the first few weeks of your baby’s life will help you capture that special time in your life.

It’s Easier to Capture Them at This Age

Studies show that newborns spend around 17 hours a day sleeping. The times that they are awake are broken up into small chunks and usually involves the baby eating. A sleeping baby is much easier to photograph than a 6-month-old baby that is interested in everything that is around them in the world. The newborn stage makes for a great time to capture some cute and fun poses, as well as family pictures with your new addition.

Newborn photo shoots are about more than just getting a great picture of your baby. It’s about capturing all of the details. The tiny fingers and toes. The way their little legs still fold up to their belly. The peaceful look on their face as they sleep or the little “smile” that we all know is really gas, but still, the most adorable thing you have seen. And, more than anything it’s a great time to capture that amazing new bond that is formed between parents and their newborn child.

Your Child Will Want to See The Pictures

There is nothing that children enjoy more than seeing pictures of when they were a baby and hearing the stories. If you have multiple children I guarantee that there will come a day when your children will have a fight over who is the “favorite child” and Exhibit A is going to be that they have the most pictures of them when they were little

Why You Should Hire a Professional

If you think you can just save some money and take these photos at home yourself you aren’t alone. Many new parents decide to go this route, but there are several reasons you don’t want to do that. First off, a professional photographer, like myself, has professional equipment to get the job done right. Cell phones have come a long way, but they cannot take the place of an experienced and trained photographer with professional equipment.

Secondly, take a moment and do an online search for the term “Pinterest fail newborn photos“. There are endless examples of the less than stellar results that new parents get when trying to recreate poses and pictures that were taken by a professional photographer. Once you stop laughing you will notice the lighting is off, the angles are all wrong, and there is no comparison between the photographs.

As a professional newborn photographer in Grand Junction CO, I would love to help you capture adorable images of your newborn baby. Don’t hesitate to contact me to find out the details on how it works, get answers to your questions, or to setup an appointment. Those first few weeks are going to fly by, so get ready!
