What can I say? As a professional photographer, every photo session is my favorite for many different reasons. A cute smile of a newborn that I captured. The way a sibling gave a kiss to their new little brother or sister. A new mom holding their precious little newborn giving them the softest, most loving smile…. I truly love them ALL.
This session however is VERY different. And it is my favorite because these ADORABLE ANGELS are MY PUPPIES! Yes, that’s right, this week, I am bringing you Fine Art Portraits of my 4-legged fur babies!
This project has been in the making for quite some time. Just like always, I planned it and planned it but when it’s your own session… it does get set aside a little bit. That was until I met a new bestie of mine, fellow photographer, Kirsten Foster-Hayes. (check out her gorgeous work as a birth photographer here) We met through GJ Birth Collective. A brand new a group of birth workers that have joined together to offer you a one-stop-shop for all the services you could ever want for your birth. ( https://www.gjbirthcollective.com/) Of course, I a member as a newborn baby photographer ( even though my dogs are my babies 🙂 )
Kirsten and I quickly decided about a few project we wanted to collaborate on. I knew that the time has come to turn my vision for this session into reality. We shot all the images at my studio in the Redlands. I gotta say I couldn’t be any happier with them!
So much fun in just one day
Kirsten was awesome about capturing candid images of Darin and I playing with the dogs…. even at the beginning when they were super nervous about being in the studio. After that I took over and we transitioned to the Fine Art Dog Portraits. I have been wanted to take black, back-lit images of these angels for a super long time. Sure enough, they look gorgeous posing for their portraits. They are so regal, aren’t they? Of course, I am a tiny bit biased… just a tiny bit… ok, that’s a total lie… they stole my heart the second I met them!
These fur babies mean so much to us! These images will be proudly displayed in our house for many many years to come. I am pretty sure that our fine art album from this session will be looked at on a daily basis!
Special thanks to Kirsten for capturing these moments and understanding my vision for this photo session. And, of course, my husband Darin who did a fabulous job with the pups throughout the whole day!
