Brutus showed up for his photos looking like he had some very important business to attend to.
He is a gorgeous French Mastiff — big head, beautiful rich coloring, plenty of wrinkles, and the kind of face that can go from extremely dignified to completely ridiculous in about two seconds.
Which, obviously, I loved.
We photographed Brutus around downtown Grand Junction, and this location was perfect for him. The brick, long walkways and more urban surroundings gave us plenty of room to create portraits that showed off his size and presence, while that beautiful soft background kept all the attention exactly where it belonged: on Brutus.

And he gave me ALL the expressions.
The serious stare. The head tilt. The tongue. And my personal favorite — the suspicious little side-eye while standing in the middle of the walkway. 😂
That’s exactly why I love photographing dogs. I want the beautiful portrait that makes you stop when you walk past it on your wall, but I also want the expressions that make you immediately say, Yep. That’s my dog.
Brutus absolutely delivered both.

He may look like one very serious gentleman, but I think these portraits tell the real story.
And I have a feeling Brutus knows exactly how handsome he is.
Much Love,
Csilla
